Blood-red Webcap - Cortinarius puniceus

Description

One of the more recognisable webcaps with all parts a deep red colour. The cap is up to 5cm in diameter, convex but flattening, dry and covered in fibrils. The gills are adnate, becoming browner with age. The stipe is up to 6cm and slender with a slight thickening at the base.
