Bathyphantes approximatus
Males 2 to 3 mm, females 2-3 to 5 mm. Prosoma brown, with darkened margin. Sternum blackish. Opisthosoma black with bright pattern dorsally consisting of transverse bands or chevrons.
Tibial spines: 2222 / TmIV: no / TmI: 0.15-0.25
Confirmation of this species requires microscopic examination of mature genitalia.
Among moss and ground vegetation particularly in damp habitats including woodland.
All year.
Local but may be numerous in wet habitats.
Widespread but local in our area.
