Aphis ulmariae
Aphis ulmariae live in the curled terminal leaves of Meadowsweet and other Filipendula species. Adult apterae are generally described as mottled dark green in life but some are yellow mottled with green, similar to the colour variation shown by its closest relative Aphis ruborum. They are not wax coated. The usual body length of adult Aphis ulmariae apterae is 1.4 to 2.4 mm, but summer dwarfs are only 1.1 to 1.4 mm.
Please provide close up images of the curled leaves and of the aphids inside. Please also state the host plant. Confirmation to species level may not always be possible without detailed examination.

Most easily recorded on the host plant when it is in leaf.

True status in Britain is difficult to determine due to lack of records, but possibly rather infrequent.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
