Alsike Clover - Trifolium hybridum

Short to medium, erect plant, not rooting at the nodes. Stipules green with a slender tip. It has toothed leaves with no white crescent. Flowers whitish or purplish becoming pinkish and later brown.

Widespread and quite common in Britain, often persisting as an escape from fodder crops.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland but probably overlooked at times. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 301 of the 617 tetrads.
