Acleris sparsana

Wingspan 18-22 mm. A variable species, sometimes with a distinctive triangular marking on the upperwing but often with a greyish ground colour, obscurely marked with specks of darker and lighter.
Favouring Beech and Sycamore the larval foodplants.
The flight period is from August through to October.
Larva: 14-16 mm long.
Fairly common over most of Britain. In the Butterfly Conservation’s Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as common.
Quite common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = A (common and resident)
