Saldula agg.
This genus comprises 11 rather oval saldids which have an entirely dark pronotum and forewings which completely overlap. There are several very similar species which are often difficult to identify and we have decided to treat this group as an aggregate for general records, as most will not have been subjected to the detailed microscopic examination necessary to identify to species level.
These bugs are often found on the shores and margins of various water bodies.
Adults occur all year round but are most often recorded in summer.
The genus appears to be widespread in Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
