Dolichopus signatus
5.5-7.5mm. A typical Dolichopus with a metallic green body and largely yellow legs. See the ID checklist below for details of the identifying characters.

Female:
- 5-5.75mm
- Green metallic body, mainly yellow legs
- lower post-ocular hairs pale
- First segment of hind tarsus with 2 dorsal bristles but none on the mid tarsus first segment
- Hind tibia yellow with dark tip
- Dorsal vein kinked with both bends smoothly obtuse
- Hind femur with 1 apical bristle
- Hind coxa largely dark but yellow at the apices
- First antennal segment dull yellow with a black dorsal surface. 2nd dirty yellow and 3rd black.
- Arista inserted from the apical third on the 3rd antennal segment
- Scutellum with a band of around 10 short pale hairs along the hind margin
Damp areas.
June-August
Locally common, mainly in Wales and western Britain, but with scattered records elsewhere.
