Description

3mm. A largely black fly with long yellow legs and a slim abdomen (Greek: leptos = slender, gaster = belly).

  • face concave
  • arista with pubescence
  • femora yellow without black rings
  • Male with anteroventral row of small black projecting spines on front tibia
  • Female with 2nd antennal joint brownish above and upper of humeri usually all black
Habitat

Associated with grassy or wooded environments.
