Shackerstone lies in the west of the Leicestershire, a largely rural area. The Ashby Canal runs through a parish - an important wildlife habitat designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It is also the home of the Battlefield Line Railway, a preserved steam railway that runs trains to Bosworth Battlefield.
