Wild places in this area

The parish lies in the far west of Leicestershire and was created in 1935 from the merger of the four civil parishes of Sheepy Magna, Sheepy Parva, Sibson and Upton. The River Sence runs north through the parish, skirting the edge of Sheepy Magna village.

Parish Update

Sheepy has joined the Leicestershire verge biodiversity project and has taken on the management of the Twycross Road verge in the village. To find out more, see the Wild Place page  links above.

Banded Demoiselle

Banded Demoiselle

The brilliant metallic blue of the male Banded Demoiselle is surely our most spectacular damselfly. Females are metallic green and lack the wing bands. This one was photographed along the River Sence in the parish.
