Wild places in this parish

This historic parish lies in the south-east of Leicestershire. Both East Langton and Church Langton villages are located here, surrounded by an atractive rural landscape of mainly pasture farmland. Two brooks run through the parish and both have been recognised as important wildlife corridors: Langton Brook in the south and Stonton Brook in the north-east.

Parish Update

East Langton is participating in the Leicestershire Wildlife Verges project and is managing the road verge along Church Causeway to benefit biodiversity. (See the Wild Place link above)

Hoverfly

One of the hoverflies found on the Church Causeway verge and photographed during the survey in 2022. All hoverflies are harmless but many mimic bees and wasps in their patterns and colours in order to fool potential predators.
