Split Porecrust - Schizopora paradoxa
An annual resupinate corticoid with tooth like projections on the cream-coloured fertile surface. It is very variable.
Toothed porecrust (Basidioradulum radula) and other dentate corticoids are very similar, and microscopic examination may be needed to separate them.
Photograph fertile surface to show teeth; note host plant and substrate. This is a difficult species to confirm from a photo, and we recommend that it is verified from a specimen by an expert before submission to NatureSpot
On dead wood, usually of deciduous trees.
All year round.
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
