Kateretes pusillus

Description

This is a small, Soft-winged Flower Beetle and measures around 2.5mm. Usually a very dark, almost blackish brown with patches of orange but the amounts of each colour may vary considerably.

Habitat

Prefers damp conditions and is often found on sedges.

When to see it

March to July.

UK Status

Local but widespread in England and Wales. Not well recorded elsewhere in Britain.

VC55 Status

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 14 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
