Alder Bracket - Mensularia radiata
An annual polypore, initially apricot/orange darkening to red-brown when mature, uneven in shape with a rather nodulose cap. The pores are light-reflecting, 2 - 5 per mm. Hooked setae on the fertile surface.

Typically on dead or dying Alders, usually at head height or above, also on birch and hazel and otehr deciduous trees.
Widespread in Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
