Aethes beatricella
Hemlock Yellow Conch
Wingspan 14 to17 mm.
It can be found on waste ground, woodland fringes and hedgerows.
It flies during June and July, in the evening and into dusk, and is sometimes attracted to light.
The larvae feed mainly on hemlock.
This species occurs mainly in the south-east of England. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as local.
Fairly frequent but not common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = B (scarce resident or restricted distribution or regular migrant).
