The first Leicestershire record of the Girdled Snail, Hygromia cinctella, turned up at the recent Bioblitz in Evington Park, Leicester. This common Mediterranean species arrived in Britain in 1950's and has been gradually spreading northwards ever since. The snail is about 1 cm across and varies in colour from a yellowish white to a dark chocolate brown. It has a sharp keel around the centre of the body whorl, with a distinguishing pale band around the keel.
