This is a rare moth in our area.  Records should be supported by a good, close-up photograph.

Habitat

Most likely to be recorded as a migrant in Britain, usually taken at light.

When to see it

Most records are added in June or July, but individuals have been recorded through to October.

Life History

The larval food-plant is Carline Thistle

UK Status

Mostly recorded as a migrant along the south coast of England with just a few records as far north as The Midlands.

VC55 Status

Rare in Leicestershire and Rutland. The Hinckley record of 30th May 2026 is the first for our area.
