Cheilymenia

Description

Small orange discs found on cowpats and other herbivore dung, often extremely common.  Some have long brown fringing hairs, other species are smooth with finely granular outer sides, or have short paler hairs.  Microscopic examination is usually needed to identify to species.

Similar Species

Scutellinia, the Eyelash fungi, have dark fringing hairs and are found mainly on wet rotting wood, not dung
