Length ~2mm. Wings fully developed. Head & throrax metallic dark green. Abdomen (gaster) dorsally, usually unicoloured or with a reddish spot in the basal half, rarely the whole basal half reddish.
Callitula pyrrhogaster has vestigial wings and more red on the abdomen.
