Persistent Waxcap - Hygrocybe acutoconica

Description

Deep yellow cap with a darker centre, sometimes orange, with a conical cap. The margin is irregular, and the tip and margin soon crack and split.  Sticky in wet weather.  The stipe is fibrillose and also yellow, with paler base that becomes greyish (not blackening) if bruised or cut.  The gills are variable pale yellow to orange in colour, free or adnexed.
