Truffle Gall - Andricus quercusradicis f. agamic

Description

The agamic generation produce irregularly shaped truffle-like galls to 6 cm, the many chambers each with a single larva. These occur at the base of trunks or on shallow or exposed roots of Oak and are initially soft, becoming hard and woody.
