Description

A minute fungus with a white cap with a pleated appearance, and white widely spaced gills.  The stipe is red brown, with a paler upper part, and has long fine transparent hairs - use hand lens.

Similar Species

small white Maramius or Marasmiellus, and the Beechleaf Bonnet Mycena capillaris

Photograph from top down, in side-view and underneath to show gills; ensure your photo clearly shows the length of the stipe from gills to base and the hyaline hairs on the stipe.  You must note substrate and habitat, and either identify the leaf species or ensure your photos include clear images of the whole leaf.

on decaying Beech leaf litter.

Autumn.

Fairly common and widespread in Britain.
