Pilobolus kleinii

Description

This dung fungus has a black-pigmented sporangium filled with 30,000–90,000 spores at the tip of the sporangiophore. The sporangiophore is usually 2 to 5 mm in height and its sporangium has a diameter of 0.5 mm.  It spreads by explosive dispersion of spores from the spore-filled sporangium.
