Amazingly, over 500 different species of moth have been recorded in LFE, including this lovely Herald, named because of its early Spring appearance. Moths are important pollinators, as well as providing vital food for birds and bats. Some fly during the day and many are large and colourful. Indeed the difference between moths and butterflies is arbitrary.
