Private but with a public road along its boundary.

This small woodland, possibly ancient, lies just south of Essendine. It was named as Freewards Thorns on the 1st edition O.S. map.
Sweet Woodruff Galium odoratum and Nettle-leaved Bellflower Campanula trachelium have been recorded in the past.
