Radix labiata
c15mm. This is not a native British species but appears to have been introduced into the pond at Belgrave Hall. It is a large and stocky snail, not as pointed as Lymnaea stagnalis and without the large mouth of Radix balthica. It displays the triangle-shaped tentacles of other Lymneiads.
Little is known about this species in Britain but on the continent it is widespread and occurs in a range of freshwater types.
All year round.
Rare or under recorded in Britain
The Belgrave Hall record is the only one known from VC55.
