Ruzenia spermoides
This fungus takes the form of tight packed clusters of 'little black balls'. There are other similar species and detailed examination is needed.
Woodland and other well wooded areas.
Fruiting November to April.
It is saprobic on rotting wood of various trees.
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
Infrequently recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland where there were only 6 records to March 2018.
