In or near to woodland, where it is often encountered in leaf litter.
Although it may be found in any month, it seems to be most frequent from October to May.
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were approximately 122 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
