Julus scandinavius
This relatively large millipede is dark brown to black with longitudinal striations on each segment. It has a reduced and modified first pair of legs.
Most likely to be confused with Tachypodoiulus niger which has a similar pointed telson but without the terminal hook.

- males have a tiny first pair of legs (difficult to see) and the second pair have a distinct long flattened projection.

Chiefly a woodland species.
Widespread and reasonably common.
Fairly common though under-recorded.
