Anomalous Bristle-moss

Last year we brought you The NatureSpot Springtail Challenge.  Although springtails are difficult to photograph and identify, several recorders responded and we now have a better idea of springtails in VC55 (but we need to grow this knowledge, so please keep those records coming in). This year we have something that everyone can participate in. We can all recognize moss, although identifying it to species level can be tricky in some cases. Pay attention to the mosses you see for a few weeks and you'll soon be able to name the common species. We currently have 106 species of moss recorded on NatureSpot. The resources on the British Bryological Society website are very useful for identification, especially the GalleriesField Key and Habitats Index.

Good hunting!
