Getting There

Manton is located next to the A6003 at the south west corner of Rutland Water. From the A6003, turn onto Lyndon Road into the village. Take the second left onto Stocks Hill and the church will appear shortly on the right, by the turning to Church Lane.

The churchyard can be accessed through the gate along Church Lane, or via stone steps to the side of the church on Priory Road.

Some roadside parking is available by the church, but be mindful of residents and signage.

Two buses service the village (the RF1 and R47, both Centebus), with the nearest stop opposite Stock Hill.

Description

Manton lies just south of Rutland Water and is a pretty little village with quaint ironstone cottages. The characterful church dates from circa 1200, and has a double bellcote and honey-coloured stone with limestone buttresses at the west end. The churchyard is flanked by neighbouring stone cottages and bordered by hedgerow, with some common churchyard flora.
