Eyes Monsell is the most southerly ward in Leicester. Named after the former land-owner, Bolton Eyres-Monsell, who sold the area to the the Leicester Corporation in 1950 to allow new house building. Aylestone Meadows lies to the west and the Grand Union Canal runs along the southern border.

This may have been the last Grey Partridge seen in Leicester, recorded in Eyres Monsell in 2007. Once common, it is now found in just a few areas in Leicestershire.
