Bringhurst is a small village in the south-east of Leicestershire, bordering Rutland and Northamptonshire. The village has a long history and is believed to be one of the earliest Anglo-Saxon settlements in the county. It lies within an agricultural landscape with the River Welland to the south. Drayton and Nevill Holt are even smaller settlements. Though three separate parishes, they work together and are represented by a Parish Meeting.

This small summer visitor has become less common in recent years. It arrives here around April having travelled from Africa to breed. It is easier to hear than see with its lovely song - a descending trill - most commonly encountered in open woodland. This one was photographed on the edge of Bringhurst village.
