Access to Blaby Oaks is via the main entrance off the public highway, Hospital Lane, east of the town of Blaby. Car parking is available on the Parish Council's Oakfield Park playing fields immediately to the west. A further permissive entrance into the wood exists from Oakfield Park.
There are bus services from the city of Leicester and the surrounding sub-urban towns. Bus times for Blaby can be found on bustimes.org.
There is a public toilet in the adjacent Oakfield Park.

Planted in 1998 and covering an area of 5.67 ha (14.01 acres), Blaby Oaks is a site of young oak trees, a small pond, and a wetland area. A bridleway and numerous circular walks exist around the site though they can be muddy in wet weather.
The woodland consists of 4 hectares of new planting and 1.7 hectares of open ground. The northern field was planted with 2000 oaks grown from locally collected seed; sourced from The Outwoods in Charnwood Forest. The oaks give the woodland its name "Blaby Oaks".
