Microscope ID Club - Slide Preparation - Paul Palmer & Beth Fox
Rutland Water Volunteer Training Centre, Oakham Road, Rutland LE15 8AD
This month, we return to the ever-popular and versatile topic of slide preparation using aqueous mounting media. A wide range of plant and invertebrate material will be available to work with, including moth specimens for dissection, named lichens suitable for squash preparations, and flowers for collecting and mounting pollen. The slide ringing kit will also be available, allowing participants to make their slides semi-permanent by sealing the coverslips - a necessary step for using oil immersion objectives at the highest magnifications. In addition to the standard materials, a variety of coloured varnishes will be on hand for ringing, offering a chance to personalise your slides and add a decorative touch to your preparations.
This session will be held entirely indoors. If you would like to attend please email: palmerpjp@gmail.com
