Water Shrew Monitoring and ID Skills

End time

Watermead Country Park North, Wanlip Road, Leicestershire

Water shrews are one of the least recorded species in Leicestershire and Rutland.  We want to put them back on the map by training people how to survey for water shrews and identify their droppings to record their presence.  We will be setting up tubes where water shrew can feed and deposit droppings.  We will collect tubes and analyse the droppings in the field if possible to confirm presence or absence.

**BONUS** We will set up a number of small mammal traps to record other mammal activity and check them during the morning's activity.

Please note that there is a car park charge of £2.50 entry into Water mead Country Park North.  This will allow you access to the whole of Watermead North and South for the day.

The mammal event is free, but a small donation is appreciated to help this not-for-profit organisation.
