Getting There

Bidwell Lane is directly south of Bidwell village (via Main Street), and close to the A1 (via Stretton Road). The verge starts at the junction and ends at the entrance to the quarry.

Roadside parking may be possible by the verge, but please be mindful of traffic and private land. Alternatively, roadside parking is available in Clipsham village, a short walk away.

The nearest bus stop is in Stretton.

Description

Designated as a Local Wildlife Site, the Bidwell Lane verge (west side only) is around 500 metres in length and is approximately 1.5 metres wide. The main habitat is calcareous grassland.

Wildlife Highlights

Recorded species include: Agrimony, Greater Knapweed, Field Scabious, Marjoram, Salad Burnet, and Small Scabious.
