The Drift Roadside Verge, Ryhall

The Drift is a green lane track heading east from Pickworth to Stamford Road. This site is located on the eastern half of the lane. The closest main road is the A1.
From the A1, take the sliproad and then the signposted road to Pickworth heading eastwards. At the junction with Pickworth Road, go straight across onto The Drift (the dirt track).
There is no bus service to the area.

Site species count:
Designated a Local Wildlife Site in 2006, The Drift verge at the Ryhall end is approximately 2.2 kilometres in length, on both sides of the dirt track. The main habitats are mesotrophic, calcareous and mixed grassland on the south side, and calcareous and mixed grassland on the north side.
Recorded species include: Agrimony, Common Knapweed, Lady’s Bedstraw, Field Scabious, Birdsfoot-trefoil, Rest-harrow, Red Clover, Greater Knapweed, Burnet Saxifrage, Salad Burnet, Cowslip, Bulbous Buttercup Glaucous Sedge, and Hoary Plantain.
