Where should I start?
1. Latest Images
If you are new to the site and just want to see what it offers, a good place to start is the Latest Images page. Here we display the most recent wildlife images submitted by users, with the most recent at the top. Click on any image to see a larger version and any comments added, or click on the species name to find out more about it.
2. Species Library
We have over 2000 species described and illustrated in our library. All live in Leicestershire and Rutland and every image has been taken in these areas. For each species you can find out where it lives, when to see it and how common or rare it is. Distribution maps for both Leicestershire and Rutland, as well as the UK as a whole, show where records have been collected for this species by the National Biodiversity Network. A link below these maps will take you to a distribution map just based on NatureSpot records.
3. Wild Places
This section features some of the best local sites for seeing wildlife. You can use the filters at the top of the page to locate sites in your district or parish, alternatively follow the link to the interactive map. Each Wild Place page includes descriptions, latest records plus tabs that show an image gallery and a species list for the site.
