Conifer Tuft - Hypholoma capnoides
Similar to its poisonous close relative the Sulphur Tuft (Hypholoma fasciculare) but the pale grey gills (never green) of the Conifer Tuft, help distinguish it.
Occurs in small tufts or singly on conifer stumps and on buried or exposed roots of dead conifers.
August to October.
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain but not nearly as common as the related Sulphur Tuft.
Infrequent or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
