A small (3.5 to 4.5 mm) bronze-black ground beetle.
Prefers silty mud and vegetation on water margins.
Can be seen in most months of the year.
A common and widespread species in Britain, though less common in the north of Scotland.
Common in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were approximately 356 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
