The parish includes two villages, Woodhouse and Woodhouse Eaves, and lies just south of Loughborough in Charnwood Forest. The parish contains several notable wildlife areas, including Beacon Hill Country Park.

A Bioblitz in Woodhouse and Woodhouse Eaves in June 2013 recorded 636 species over a 24 hour period. All the records collected by volunteers on the day were collated through NatureSpot. A full list of the species found can be viewed below:
