IDVerde, the National Forest, Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust and Charnwood Forest Geopark are offering a day of free training to anyone who would like to get started with wildlife monitoring. This event will cover several different species types, introducing the basic surveying techniques for aquatic habitats, reptiles, butterflies and ‘flower-insect-time’ counts. You’ll also be introduced to some recommended apps and have a chance to use them in a practical session at Morley Quarry in the afternoon.
All equipment will be provided, but please feel free to bring along any of your own ID guides. We’ll be spending time outdoors and indoors, so please wear layers, sturdy boots and bring waterproofs. Please also bring your own lunch and snacks. Please book your space by emailing Ali at: abrand-barker@nationalforest.org
